Retreats

Retreats are the hallmark of the ECHO program. They are an opportunity for young people to set aside time away from their busy lives to reflect on the questions, “Who am I?” “Where am I?” and “Where am I going?” While exploring their faith and deepening their relationship with God, teens encounter a loving community of peers and adults to walk with them on their journey. To date, more than 12,000 young people have experienced the transformative power of an ECHO retreat.

The 1-day retreat theme "Gifts of the Spirit" is a teen led retreat where teens talk about why they have chosen to follow Christ with a focus on their preparation for decisions that are confronting them today. These retreats are open to high school teens, especially those preparing for confirmation or interested in learning more about a relationship with Christ.

These retreats are co-ed and are open to anyone in high school. The day runs from approximately 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Weekend Retreats

The weekend retreat theme “Paschal Mystery” explores how the experience of encountering Christ can be present in our lives every day, especially as teens approach decisions of adulthood. This is a teen and adult-led retreat where teens talk about how they have built their relationship with Christ and adults talk about how their relationship with Christ has helped them navigate many of life’s decisions and challenges. This retreat is wonderful for teens as they look forward to becoming an adult.

These single gender retreats begin on Friday evening and close around lunchtime on Sunday.  They are held at the Craigville Retreat and are open to teens who are in high school through early college. More than 12,000 high school and college-aged young adults have experienced the transformative power of an ECHO weekend! These retreats are lead by a mix of teenagers and adults. Retreat participants rarely leave a retreat without making new and life-long friends.

Weekend retreats begin Friday evening and close around lunchtime on Sunday. While there is the ability for some “wiggle room” in arrival to accommodate a late running sports game, school activity, etc., all participants are required to be there from start to finish. If an accommodation needs to be made, it should be done ahead of time with the leader of the weekend.

If you have never heard of an ECHO retreat and would like to hear about the impact of an ECHO retreat, check out an interview with Mike Rowe (yes, the Dirty Jobs guy!) and Neal McDonough (Cape Cod native and Hollywood actor).  Neal speaks of his ECHO experience as a teen during this interview.
