Statement:
"ECHO (Encountering Christ in Others) of Cape Cod is a
Catholic, community-based experience initiated by a weekend
retreat, focused on the living presence of Jesus Christ encountered
in others and self. The ECHO program is directed toward the
awakening, and the developing of a response to, the three basic
areas of Identity (Who am I?), Integrity (Where am I?), and
Vocation (Where am I going?) as they are emerging in the lives
of teenagers."
WELCOME to our 37th year of ECHO of Cape Cod. A new season has begun!
This year starts with an exciting challenge to all our veteran Echoites! We have had many complaints that there is no boys’ weekend in the Fall. The same excuse is always given …
SPORTS! It’s football season or hockey or basketball practice. The one empty time slot is the Thanksgiving weekend. So guess what?
November 24 – 26 will be the boys’ weekend.
College kids will be home; the family turkey dinner over. What better way to spend a weekend! A special thanks to Jack Driscoll who has agreed to Rector the weekend; we are hoping for a great turnout. Pick up applications and brochures for Jean Giddings first weekend and Jack’s at the opening Mass.
OPENING MASS: September 19th at Christ the King at 7p.m. Hope to see you all there.
WEEKLY REUNIONS: will begin at Christ the King on Sept. 26th. Stay tuned for date on OLV reunions.
ECHO 247 with Jean Giddings as Rectora will be held Nov. 10 – 12th. Get those applications in early.Jean’s theme will be “You are a Treasure”.
DONATIONS: If anyone wishes to donate crosses or Bibles for a weekend in someone’s memory please contact any member of the Board.
ADULT BOARD: consists of Frs. Tom Frechette, Bill Penderghest, Tim Goldrick, Deacon Jim Barrett, Rectoras: Jean Giddings, Ellen Driscoll, Kathie Norton, Rectors: Tim Acton, Keith Caldwell, David Ryan, and Mary Becker and Mary Fuller. The Board has held several lengthly meetings this summer reviewing and revising talks and updating the manual. Hopefully the new talk outlines will be easier to follow.
YOUTH BOARD: held their opening meeting with a cookout at Patti Machado’s on Aug. 24. Many new ideas and plans were generated and much food consumed. Advisors and Mentors led the discussions.
Youth Board Dates for next year include:
Nov. 5th, Nov. 19th, Jan. 7th, Feb. 4th, Mar. 4th, and April 1st. The big banner and bags for each weekend are designed at these meetings. Not just Youth Board members but all are invited to come and help. Mark your calendars. With two weekends in November it will be busy!

Hats off to Doug Rodrigues who is now working full time on Pastoral Planning for the Fall River Diocese. Doug has promised to make Thursday reunions whenever possible and will be in the Palanca room on weekends.
Graduates: Know that you will be missed and remembered in our prayers. Christ is Counting on you and will be with you on this next journey of your life. We hope many of you will be home for the Thanksgiving weekend and we will see you in the palanca room. God be with you.
Dusty Cabral, our new Marine, reports that he hopes to be home from Florida in early September and hopes to see us all.
Newsletter: we “pruned” the mailing list and many names of folks that we haven’t seen for a long time were deleted. We will still post the newsletter on e-mail but will be happy to put anyone back if they send me an e-mail
