CHRIST'S LOVE

February, 2006, Volume 15, No. 4
www.echoofcapecod.org

Mission Statement:
"ECHO (Encountering Christ in Others) of Cape Cod is a Catholic, community-based experience initiated by a weekend retreat, focused on the living presence of Jesus Christ encountered in others and self. The ECHO program is directed toward the awakening, and the developing of a response to, the three basic areas of Identity (Who am I?), Integrity (Where am I?), and Vocation (Where am I going?) as they are emerging in the lives of teenagers."

Fundraiser: Our Annual fundraiser has begun in order to help us overcome the annual shortfall of $6000. Our thanks to the many have already generously responded. The $100 fee for the weekend goes directly to Craigville. Bibles, stole material, cost of mailing including newsletter runs over $900, cost of Sunday dinner, truck rental, palanca room expenses etc. and it is easy to see why your help is needed. Please mail your donations to ECHO of Cape Cod, 79 Puritan Rd. Buzzards Bay, MA 02532.

ECHO 243: Ellen Driscoll, team and candidates renewed our spirits with their deep sharing at the closing. Jesus had touched their hearts and we were enriched by their words. Check out the “Anchor” (1/27/06) for Fr. Tim’s thoughts on Echo 243 in“God Whispers”. His article really captures the Spirit of an ECHO weekend.

ECHO 244 will begin on Friday, Feb.10th and the closing will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville on Sunday Feb.12th. at 7 p.m. Plan to support the team and candidates with your palanca. Once again we remind you that palanca means prayer and sacrifice, the lifting of our hearts and minds to Jesus asking Him to touch the hearts of the candidates and fill them with His Spirit. The Palanca Room is located in the Recreation Building on Main Street, Centerville and is open from 6:30 to 9p.m. Friday, and Saturday from 10a.m. - 8p.m. The Palanca Room is not open on Sunday. Please make sure all Palanca is there by 7p.m. Saturday so it can be sorted. Palanca may not be delivered by sponsors or family to Craigville.
The Palanca Room for this weekend will be run by Lauren Hill and Caitlin Nelson. Please support them with your prayers and presence.

The theme for ECHO 244 is “Everything I Do, I Do It for YOU” from the song by Bryan Adams.
Please plan to join the young men of ECHO 244 as they celebrate the gift of Jesus in their lives.

Look into my eyes, you will see
What you mean to me.
Search your heart, search your soul and
When you find me there, you will search no more.
Don’t tell me it’s not worth trying for
You can’t tell me it’s not worth dying for
You know it’s true, everything I do I do it for you.
There‘s no love like your love
And no other could give more love
There’s nowhere unless you’re there
All the time, all the way.
You know it’s true, everything I do I do it for you.

A Prayer for Today

This is the beginning of a new day. God has given me this day to use as I will. I can waste it – or use it for good, but what I do today is important, because I am exchanging a day of my life for it! Then tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in its place something that I have traded for it. I want it to be gain, and not loss; good and not evil; success and not failure; in order that I shall not regret the price I have paid for it.

February, the month of love and caring. Let’s begin by recalling a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.”
…..and remember to smile!
