Board News:
A Time of Reflection, a retreat led by Doug Rodrigues from
California highlighted our many board meetings held this summer.
During this overnight retreat Doug helped us to examine our
purpose as a board, our leadership styles, our sense of community,
our responsibilities as board members and focused our attention
on a close examination of the ECHO program. We laughed, shed
tears, and came to a deeper appreciation of the many diverse
talents each person brings to the board. All agreed that after
33 years ECHO truly is a “miracle program”.
Currently we are working to develop a Mission Statement for
ECHO that we hope will guide the program in the future.
Check out our web page www.echoofcapecod.org
for photos of our retreat and a brief summary of our Time
of Reflection.

REFLECTION:
As we approach the one year remembrance of the terrible tragedy
of Sept.11, 2001 we need to examine our own lives since that
event. How has it effected the way we live our lives; our
relationship with God; our care and concern for others? A
year ago we were stunned and horrified to think something
so terrible could happen in our United States. We prayed,
lit candles, held vigil services in church; we celebrated
our patriotism! Memories fade; we moved on with our lives
but we made promises to stay closer to Jesus and our faith.
We begin a new ECHO year, our 34th. Each of us, young and
old, need to search deep in our hearts and see if September
11th changed our faith relationship with God and our willingness
to share that faith journey with others.
May this ECHO year be overflowing with candidates and crowded
reunions. Only you can make this happen.
Hold on tightly to what is truly
important in life.
Hold on to faith; it is the source of believing that all things
are possible.
It is the fiber and strength of a confident soul.
Hold on to hope; it banishes doubt and enables attitudes to
be positive and cheerful.
Hold on to trust; it is the core of fruitful relationships that
are secure and content.
Hold on to love; it is the greatest gift of all, for it shares,
cares, and gives meaning to life.
Hold on to family and friends; they the most important people
in your life,
and they make the world a better place. They are your roots.
Hold on to all you are and all that you have learned; for these
things are what make you unique.
Hold on to your dreams; achieve them diligently and honestly.
Never take the easy way or surrender to deceit.
Remember others on your way and take time to care for their
needs.
Enjoy the beauty around you. Have the courage to see things
differently and clearly.
Make the world a better place one day at a time,
and don’t let go of the important things that give meaning
to your life.
