CHRIST'S LOVE
|
It was a cold, rainy afternoon as I sat typing this newsletter.
Opening to a knock on my front door found two young Mormon elders; two
boys just out of high school who have committed two years of their lives
to doing missionary work to spread their faith. Hailing from Utah and
Idaho they will travel door to door where ever they are assigned, spreading
their faith. I spent a wonderful 40 minutes listening to their stories
and telling them all about ECHO. Two years away from family and friends
because they believe they are called to spread the word!!!
When they left I felt a deep sadness that so many of us never work as
hard spreading our faith, never even invite someone to live an ECHO weekend.
Each of us has been called by God to be Missionaries; to be the Voice,
the Hands, the Touch of Christ to others. If we don't, who will? It's
a New Year! Pray for that dedication of faith.
****************************
ECHO 223 will begin on Friday, Jan. 18th and the closing will be
held at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, on Sunday Jan. 20th
at 7p.m. Plan to support the team and candidates with your palanca. Once
again we remind you that PALANCA means prayer and sacrifice, the lifting
of our hearts and minds to Jesus to ask Him to touch the hearts of the
candidates and fill them with His Spirit.
The Palanca room, located in the Centerville Recreation Building on Main
St., will be open from 6:30 to 9:00p.m Friday and from 10:00a.m. until
8:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Palanca room will not be open on Sundays.
The theme of the weekend will be I Hope You Dance
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,You get your fill
to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted, God forbid love
ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean. Whenever
one door closes I hope one more opens. Promise me that you'll
give faith a fighting chance And when you get the chance to sit
it out or dance, I hope you dance.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance, Never settle
for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin'chances but they're worth takin',
Loving might be a mistake but it's worth makin'
Don't let some hell-bent heart leave you bitter, When you come
close to sellin' out reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance, And when
you get the chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance, I
hope you dance.
